Baku. 4 June. REPORT.AZ/ I heard the news on Muhammad Ali's death this morning on one of the TV channels. This news greatly affected me.[1]
Report was told by the winner of the golden belt by WBO LATINO, Ali Ismaylov.[1]
He spoke about his meeting with Muhammad Ali: "I was born in 1974, when Muhammad Ali was at the peak of his career, my parents named me after him.[1]

I met with Muhammad Ali twice. Once at the World Cup in Houston, second - Olympic Games 2000 in Sydney in Houston. He gave me his robe and said it would bring me luck. Muhammad Ali was my role model."[1]

42-year-old A.Ismayilov also named his son Muhammad Ali after the famous boxer: "When my son was born, I called Muhammad Ali and said that I have named my son after him and he was very happy.[1]
I will give the boxer robe he gave me to my son. I hope he will become Muhammad Ali of XXI century".[1]

British boxer Amir Khan paid tribute to legendary fighter Muhammad Ali on Sunday, calling him the "people's champion" and saying Ali's life outside the ring had inspired him to help those in need.[4]
The WBC Silver welterweight title holder, currently in Pakistan to open a boxing academy and carry out charity work in the country's drought-hit south, said Ali's larger-than-life personality had earned him millions of fans around the globe.[4]

British boxer Amir Khan, the 29-year-old told AFP : I was always looking up to him. A great fighter, a guy who wasn't only just a fighter but also a great personality outside the boxing world as well." "He would say 'I'm gonna knock him out in the fourth round, and he used to do it in the fourth round. That's what I used to love about Muhammad Ali.'"[4]
Khan added that Ali's fighting style, which combined the speed and agility of a lightweight with the power of a heavyweight, had made him a unique fighter.[4]
"If you looked at the way he used to fight he was very very different to any other fighter. He was a heavyweight, where he was really, really big, he was heavy. But he moved like a lightweight. So he floated like a butterfly and he did sting like a bee because his shots were fast, powerful and explosive. And he used to hurt his guys, you know, he hurt his opponents."[4]
In addition to being widely regarded as the best boxer in history, Ali was outspoken in his fight for social justice, becoming a key figure in the civil rights movement and a leading voice against the US war in Vietnam.[4]
He also raised millions of dollars for charity, including his own organisation dedicated to Parkinson's research, a disease he suffered from from 1984 onwards.[4]
Khan said: "I look up to him and I wanna do what he did. That's why I come places like Pakistan and I spend time here. I kind of picked that out of his book -- how Muhammad Ali used to help the less fortunate people. He was more of a people's champion, not just a champion but a people's champion and that's how I want to be."[4]
Khan has raised some $80,000 for the drought-affected people of Pakistan's southern Thar district, and pledged to build new wells in the desert region.[4]
He will also unveil a new boxing academy in the capital Islamabad aimed at unearthing future fighting champions. [4]
Actor Will Smith and former heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis will be among the pallbearers for Muhammad Ali's funeral on Friday, joining a list of notable athletes, entertainers and politicians to mourn the boxing legend.[7]
Former U.S. President Bill Clinton, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan and comedian Billy Crystal were among those previously announced as participating in public events as the world grieves the loss of the boxer, showman and antiwar activist who captivated global attention in the 1960s and 1970s.[7]
One of the transcendent figures of the 20th century, Ali died on Friday at age 74. Family spokesman Bob Gunnell announced the details of the memorial services on Monday.[7]
Smith played Ali in the 2001 movie of the same name, earning an Oscar nomination and becoming a family friend. London-born Lewis, who went on to represent Canada in the Olympics, is one of three boxers along with Ali and Evander Holyfield to have held the heavyweight title three times.[7]
They will be joined by relatives and family friends in carrying the casket through Ali's home town of Louisville, Kentucky on Friday.[7]

The former champion’s biographer Thomas Hauser wrote on the website that
Ali’s daughter, Khaliah Ali-Wertheimer, was raised as a Muslim, but described herself to Hauser as “not into organized religion” and “more spiritual than religious.”
Her husband, attorney Spencer Wertheimer, is Jewish and their son, according to Khaliah, chose to have a bar mitzva because he “felt a kinship with Judaism and Jewish culture,” the Inquirer reported.[14]

The boxing website thesweetscience.com reported on Wednesday that Ali attended Shabbat services at Congregation Rodeph Shalom in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in April, to celebrate the bar mitzva of his grandson, Jacob Wertheimer.[14]
